Expansion of LNG funding for seagoing vessels in Germany
The Budget Committee of the German Parliament has decided to expand LNG funding for seagoing vessels. The corresponding proposal by Rüdiger Kruse, member of the Hamburg parliament, had received broad support in the committee.
The increase in funding by 30 million euros to 120 million euros are good news for Germany as a shipping location. Companies will continue to receive support for investments in climate- and environmentally friendly ships. LNG is currently the only fuel available on the market that will enable shipping to move closer to the climate goals of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and achieve further significant improvements in air pollution control.
