LNG for seagoing vessels: Third funding call launched

The third funding call within the framework of the “Guideline for the expansion and conversion of seagoing vessels for the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel” has been launched: Applications can be submitted again as of now. The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) grants subsidies for investment in LNG propulsion for seagoing vessels of up to 40 percent in principle, and even up to 60 percent depending on the size of the company.

The application of LNG as a marine fuel makes a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions in the shipping sector. The funding guideline and the respective funding calls promote the application of LNG as a fuel in German shipping and represent a concrete implementation of the German government’s Mobility and Fuel Strategy (MKS).

Applications can be submitted in the period from 09.04.2021 to 12.06.2021 via the easy online portal. The application documents and further explanations are provided here: www.bav.bund.de, Third funding call launched.
